The Itch

The Itch

WWIII was just begining and Russia and the United States were at each others throats. The US had already lost control of Alaska to them and they also had just recently bombed the island state of Hawii. The US was devistated and wondered how they would ever recover from the loss.

"So how are you guys mourning for the loss of the pinapple pizza capitol of the world?" Sarah was tired of hearing Hope talk so she said the usual.
"Your mom knows ask her, we prepared last night." Hope offered a fake laugh and then a sneer.
"It just sucks that Hawii had to be destroyed on the week before Haloween. Do you know how many people can't come to my party because of this stupid mourning thing? I mean I look good in black, but why does the government make all of us wear black? Did they ever think about the people like you, Sarah, that look like ghosts in black?"
"I don't know, maybe because the US just lost a state that DIDN'T create pinapple pizza? By the way how is your science fair project coming along?"
"Fine, I guess. The bacteria are just growing so fast, and I think this could be a major health hazord."
"Ohh, yeah. Growing yeast in a jar and putting it under a microscope is so dangerous."
"No, you don't understand, this doesn't look like yeast. This looks like a major pathogen."
"Okay, Hope." Sarah just ignored Hope's chatter as they walked home. Hope was known to lie without even thinking twice. When they arrived home Sarah went right to her room and got on Skype. For the past week she had been talking to her friend Elise who lived in Moscow. She opened the link and next thing you know there was Elise sitting, waiting for her.
"Hey," Elise said in her thick Russian accent.
"Hey, how are you and Lyle hanging on?" Elise srugged with saddness. For she and her younger brother were living alone while their father was out in the streets fighting the war in Alaska.
"How's that package of science fair stuff  I sent Hope?"
"Pretty well. The yeast is just growing weird."
"Is it begining to foam!" Elise smiled with excitement. What was that all about, Sarah thought.
"I think so, why do you ask?"
"Ummmm. Because if it is you need to dump it down the drain."
              "Why?"
"That means it didn't work. I'll send her a different pack that will deffinately work."
"Ok. I gotta' go and tell Hope to dump out the expeiment."
"'Kay. See ya'!" The message closed as abrumptly as it had began. Sarah screamed the comand to Hope and later heard the gurgle of the mixture being poured down the drain. What was up with her response? She thought. Whatever.
"Why didn't I get to talk to her?" Hope asked, and as usual forgetting to knock.
"I barely even talked to her. Don't you ever knock?" Hope didn't pay attention as usual.
"Let's get back on and talk to her." And without asking Hope turned on the Skype once again.
"They fell for it! Those stupid Americans! They'll never know that they just let out the most powerful pathegen ever created," yelled Elise from the other side of the screen.
"Great job Elise, now the Russian communitie will love us forever!" Then the guy we Knew as being her younger brother started a total make-out scene.
"Eeeewwww!" Hope reached over and turned of the monitor. "WTF!!!! Did you see her making- out with her brother!"
"I don't belive that was her brother. Did you hear what she said?"
" No, that Lyle guy is just to cute!"
"You just let out the most powerful pathogen the world has ever seen!"
              "You told me to!"
"Let's just calm down. Maybe we can stop this. Maybe there is an antidote."
"I don't think so, they aren't that stupid. What if we talk to Lyle he didn't seem evil?
"You were blinded by his cuteness! But he didn't seem totally happy."
              "I'll contact him tonight."
              "I'll tell the police."

"Breaking news ladies and gentleman! there has been an out break of a pathogen that looks like it could ruin the nation. We are please asking you to not use any public water if you have been exposed please seperate yourself from society. Stay inside! This pathogen causes an itch and rash to form. This has been Brian Monroy speaking!"

An Outsider's View

                                                              An Outsider's View
In section 4, we learned about Crooks, The black stable-hand with a crooked back. Crooks, being black and all, was judged and treated unfairly by the other men. From experience, I know that being a minority or not being in the "in" crowd is not the best thing in the world. In elementaryschool I used to play with this girl that lived next door to me. I was about five and she was seven. We would play princesses and fun fairytale games like that. One day we were playnig those cames and I said to her, "I want to be the princess just this once." I never got to be the princess and I always went along with it, but i really wanted to be her this time. But the girl said," No, you can't play the princess, your just a nigger." And after she said that I asked my dad what that word ment and he said to me "Hope, not everything is as good as it seems to be. There are people that don't care what you act like, but if your black ,god have mercy on your soul, 'cuz they are never gonna' let that go. And whan they see you they don't see you they just see that your black." And from that day on I 've known how the real world is and it makes you sad inside to know that in front of some people no matter how hard you try you will always be seen or thought of as your minoritie or disability.
